The view from Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum atop the hill.

Taking a trip to the Sun Yat-sen Memorial in Nanjing? Why not make it easy and fun by renting an electric scooter for the day? Here’s how my day went—from the Didi ride to a scenic, effortless cruise around the mountain.

Atop the mountainous climb

Getting There

I started the day with a Didi ride, dropped off at the bottom of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial area. While looking at the map to figure out my route, an aunty approached me, offering to rent me an electric scooter.

The rented scooter cost S$10.

The deal? 50 yuan for the entire day, until 7 PM, with a 100 yuan deposit. Payment was super easy through WeChat, and before I knew it, I was all set with a helmet and keys.

No questions, no license needed—just hop on and go!

The Perfect Ride in Great Weather

The weather was a cool 14 degrees, absolutely perfect for scootering. Renting the scooter turned out to be the best decision; the walk around the Sun Yat-sen Memorial area would have been intense and time-consuming.

With beautiful trees lining the roads and a steady flow of people enjoying the scenery, the atmosphere was lively. There were even professional photographers available along the roadside, complete with iPads ready for instant editing and exporting in Lightroom. It added a unique vibe to the area.

Navigating the Sights by Scooter

The scooter was a game-changer, especially with so much ground to cover. I was able to zip between all the stops around the mountain easily. The process is simple: find a parking area for your scooter, hop off, and walk to your desired spot. It’s an effortless way to experience the sights without getting exhausted.

Exploring by scooter also gave me the chance to see local Nanjing shops and sample some cuisine along the way. However, be ready for a little climbing as you get to the top of the mountain.

Sights Worth the Climb

At the top, the views are incredible, and the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is definitely worth visiting. Just a heads-up: no photos are allowed inside, so you’ll have to soak up the experience without your camera.

Overall, riding around on an electric scooter was the ideal way to explore the Sun Yat-sen Memorial. It was convenient, fun, and allowed me to take in the sights without the hassle of a long trek. Highly recommended for anyone planning a visit!
